Fatima, Raising Sheep (winner of Moroccan microentrepreneur award)

Fatima began her business with only 2 sheep and has expanded to approximately 225 sheep today. She has used her increased income to purchase property and feels she is less modest than she once was. Despite the impressive size of her business, and her desire to access larger loans, Fatima does not have enough collateral to qualify for a bank loan. Instead she is looking forward to participating in the individual loan product being developed by Al Karama. She intends to use the profit to finish building a silo where she keeps the hay that is used to feed her sheep. Fatima hopes in the future she can buy a piece of land where she can grow the hay herself and become completely self sufficient. She lives in a two room house with 10 people and no electricity. Fatima intends to leave her business to her children who can expand it further and increase their own opportunities.
