| Sabah Mohamed – Securing a Future |
|
| Like most of women in her area, Sabah’s husband is a day laborer without a
steady source of income. To provide security for her family, Sabah had to take
matters into her own hands and thought that owning a small business would be the
key to financial security. She was determined to provide her children with
enough not only to cover daily expenses but also to be able to offer them the
opportunity to attend school. She managed to open a small grocery store on her
own, but she knew she could never be financially secure without growing the
business. |

Sabah needed money to be able to fill her shop with products on a regular basis.
When she heard about Al-Tadamun’s micro-loans from its field promoters, she was
intrigued because it resembled the Egyptian common system of GAM’EYA, but
with more involvement from the women who borrowed.
With the blessing of her
husband, she joined the program to gain access to a reliable
and fair source of credit. She trusted Al-Tadamun because of its
organization and focus on women. |
