Al
Tadamun
Al Tadamun is one of Egypt’s most
prominent MFIs, reaching 12,000
active clients with a gross loan
portfolio of US $8.4 million by the
end of March 2006. Established by
Save the Children in 1996, Al
Tadamun focuses on reaching women
micro-entrepreneurs in the poor
neighborhoods of Greater Cairo. In
line with its commitment to reaching
the poorest, Al Tadamun emphasizes
group lending.
Al Tadamun became a Grameen – Jameel
partner in 2003.
The Regional Association for
Development Enterprise (RADE):
RADE is based in Sohag, one of
Egypt’s poorest areas. It began
providing microcredit loans to those
in need in 1997 through the help of
Catholic Relief Services and it now
reaches over 7,500 active borrowers
with a gross outstanding portfolio
of US $4.1 million. Its aim is to
reach over 50,000 active clients by
2010.
RADE’s commitment to reaching the
poorest and its ambitious goals for
growth enabled it to become a
Grameen – Jameel partner in 2003.
