Grameen-Jameel is a for-profit, limited liability company jointly owned by Grameen Foundation and the ALJ Foundation, a subsidiary of Abdul Latif Jameel Group. It is operated as a social business modeled after Professor Mohammed Yunus’ concept. As a social business, Grameen-Jameel does not distribute dividends to its founding shareholders but reinvests profits in the company to serve more poor people in the Arab World. Incorporated in Cyprus, Grameen-Jameel has its main office in Dubai International Humanitarian City.
